Soap & Glory - Love At First Blush

These were two of my Christmas presents. I had asked for them both from my step dads mum & dad so I sort of knew what I was getting, however I was still very happy when I opened it! I hadn't seen the blush in real life, I found it online when I was frantically searching for a Christmas list (as I hadn't made one because I didn't have a clue what I wanted, shocking I know!)

Apart from the S&G tingly lipgloss that I think every blogger and their dog owns, this is my first S&G makeup product which is very exciting. I have heard amazing things though, so I was very happy to open this!

Although online describes it as 'pink, pop & pearl' I've been telling people its almost like a blush, highlighter and bronze in one - because it is. The pink is very rosy cheeked, the lighter 'pearl' is SUCH a gorgeous highlight and you could easily use the third one as a bronze if you didn't have any to hand.

As a fairly 'new' blusher user, I don't tend to change my blushers up much. I generally (as I do with all my make up) use the same product for months and then have a change up. I know I have accumulated enough make up for 20 girls in the past year but theres just something about changing my makeup I hate. I know where I am with my basic makeup and I know nothing can go wrong. What I'm trying to get at is that this gorgeous little thing has fast replaced my every day blush.

Although I asked for a blusher and a blusher brush, I didn't actually ask for them to come together so it was even more of a surprise when they did. I have wanted the RT blusher brush since.. well since I saw it I guess. Here's a strange fact: I have never bought myself any of the RT brushes I own. I couldn't tell you why, I just haven't.

I would say that this brush is probably the best one I own out of at the RT brushes so far. I just love it. It's such a perfect shape and density to apply powder onto the cheek. I haven't tried cream blushes (because we all know me and cream blushes DO NOT GET ON) but I can imagine that it would also do the trick for those too. This is just 10/10, I luuuurve it.

Together these two are like a cheek dream-team duo. Don't believe me? Find out for yourself.

What is your cheek dream-team duo??? I'd love to find out!

BLOGMAS | Benefit Calendar Week 1

Everyone and their dog knows that I managed to get a Benefit advent calendar. If you weren't sure what it was, it is literally an advent calendar filled with makeup every day. I expected there to be thousands of tweets and blog posts about it but I'm actually surprised that there hasn't been many! So this is my first weekly update.

Firstly can I just say how bloody disappointed I am with this? I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't this. At all. I completely understood they weren't going to be full size products (because lets be honest, nothing is under £20 from Benefit). I had assumed they would just be minis but these are literally mini-minis. They aren't even mini size. I do feel a little ripped off at this because 1 or 2 uses the whole product will be gone. But maybe I should have researched it more before hand!! I will never learn.

DAY 1 - Benefit Paper Clips
I don't think anyone could believe it when day 1 was paperclips. I mean COME ON... I don't mind there being paperclips but the first day!? Maybe start it amazingly and get worse as it goes on but NO not the first day!!
Day 2 - Ultra Plush Lipgloss
I'm yet to try this lipgloss but not being a lipgloss lover, I'm not expecting much. I swatched some on my hand and it was very sheer and I also wasnt a huge fan of the smell.
Day 3 - They're Real Mascara
The standard They're Real mascara. If you dont know Benefit as a brand, I'm sure you will have seen this mascara. Some people swear by it. I think its good, but expensive and nothing to shout home about.

Day 4 - Stay Don't Stray
Again, I'm yet to try this so cant comment. But it's a 'eye shadow and concealer' primer. I've never heard of a primer for concealer.. That sounds like its adding a very unnecessary step to doing your makeup.

Day 5 - It's Potent! Eye Cream
I know I probably should care a lot more about my skin than I do but I don't. Unfortunately. So eye cream is wasted on me, but my mum might like it.

Day 6 - The POREfessional
Heard A LOT of rave reviews about this stuff and I am excited to try it however it is SO small I feel it will literally be used up after 1 use. Boohoo :-(

Day 7 - Benefit Sparkly Hair Tie
Wow, what I always wanted!! Although hair ties do come in handy, these type are quite frankly.....crap. Not much more I can say about it.

I'm sorry if this is a complete downer on my 'was meant to be amazing' calendar but it's an honest review!! I don't know if I'm disappointed with the products because I'm disappointed with the whole calendar in general but I really cant see it getting much better, especially as I know everything that is coming as it's listed on the back. Well done Benefit, well done.

Do you have this advent calendar? What did you think of the first week?

BLOGMAS | November Favourites

It's that time again!! Another month passed, and thank god. I know I shouldn't wish my life away but I currently am (for reasons I won't go in to!). Luckily, December always goes so fast! I'm patiently waiting for April to come and then I'll be happy again. Anyway, I thought I would share with you some things I've been loving this month!

Firstly this month I've been LOVING Lush. The bubble bar in this picture is actually 'Karma', but for my monthly faves it's Lush in general. I previously wrote about my new found love for bubble bars (here), and since I've never really been a huge Lush lover like most other bloggers I've fallen for it, hard. I placed a huge online order last month so I've slowly been using up those products but when I went to Cambridge at the weekend I got a few more bits.

This is another product I have wrote about before (here). I loved it first time round, but then I put it aside in favour of another blush however I really wasn't happy with the payoff I was getting from the newer one, so I got this oldie out again and GUESS WHAT: I LOVE IT again. It's back in my make up bag where it belongs!! Nothing has topped this!

Ahhh, my favourite favourite of this month. A bloggers fave, what more can I say? You've probably read 5000000000 reviews on this which is why I haven't bothered to review it but seriously, you NEED this eyeshadow and if you haven't got it, get it. Quick.

Well, what a genius product this is. I'm surprised I haven't actually seen many reviews about this because I bloody love it! For eyeliner novices like me, this is perfection. The tip makes it SO easy to do a flick, and that is coming from me! Honestly if you're new to eyeliner and struggling a bit, you need to get this!! Solves all issues.

I was sent this mascara from Cohorted after a bit of a mix up with an order I placed. I NEVER step out of my comfort zone with mascaras as I've mentioned so many times but I thought I'd give this one a go and honestly, I'm SO glad I did!! I absolutely adore(d, it's now run out!) this mascara and will 100% be repurchasing it! Thank you very much, Cohorted!

My last random favourite is Olbas Oil. I swear for the whole of November I had a cold. The first time I got it, it was so deadly I don't think I've ever suffered with a cold so badly!! I couldn't actually function properly! Now were in to December, I haven't yet *TOUCH WOOD* had a cold and I'm hoping massively that the cold germs are out of my system.

SO they are my faves for this month!! As ever please link me to your November favourite posts (if you have them!).

What are your November favourites?

BLOGMAS | The Christmas Tag

For the second year I am doing Blogmas!! If you follow me on Twitter you would have seen me stressing about it as I hadn't planned my posts. I took part in Blogmas last year and I just wrote a post day by day but this time I wanted to plan my posts in advance. I've planned most of them but today was an empty day so I just found a Christmas themed tag I thought I'd do.

1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?
I'm not a film person whatsoever but Christmas films are different. Of course you HAVE to watch films at Christmas!! Elf (of course) and all The Nativity films!

2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
I actually read this and thought 'what a stupid question, of course Christmas morning' buuuut actually I do both! My nan was Norwegian and we always used to celebrate Christmas with my dads side of the family on Christmas eve. Then with my mums side on Christmas day! So a bit of both.

 3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
Very cliche, but every Christmas since my brother was born has been amazing. Having someone so much younger than you to celebrate with is so lovely, and especially seeing how happy and excited he get's! Another memory is my first Christmas with my boyfriend. :-)

4. Favourite festive food?
I hate food. If you know me, I'm the fussiest eater EVER. On Christmas day, I usually have pizza or a microwave curry. Yes, I'm being serious!!

5. Favourite Christmas gift?
I actually don't have a clue!? I always love whatever I get for Christmas! Tough question..

6. Favourite Christmas scent?
I LOVE cinnamon but it can get very overpowering if you smell it for too long. To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of Christmas scents.. they are all very sickly after too long!

7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
As I mentioned, we used to celebrate Christmas day on Christmas eve with my dads side of the family. Me and my brother also open 1 present each, and we also get new PJ's from the elves :-)

8. What tops your tree?
Good question.

9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
Defo not crazy, wild or extravagant but I ALWAYS used to ask for candy floss machines. I don't even know why, I just loved the idea!! My mum would NEVER get me one though.

10. What's the best part about Christmas for you?
Again, cliche buuut just the whole Christmas thing. It's such a lovely time of the year! Love being with my family, all the excuses to dress up in nice outfits and drink alcohol. Oh, and I love getting presents.. Just being honest!

Please feel free to use these questions if you're stuck for some! Link me if you do, I'd love to read them! Just a quickkkk post for today, I promise Blogmas will get better :-)

What is your favourite thing about Christmas?

Jewel Candle - Review/Giveaway

JewelCandle* - available online

I have been a fan of Jewel Candle for years. The idea is just genius. A nice smelling candle with a jewel worth anything from £10-£250 inside.. what more could a girl want, seriously? After all, they do say diamonds are a girl's best friend.

When Jewel Candle offered me the chance to review a candle of course I jumped at the chance. I chose the scent 'Pink Cherry' (which, by the way is just AMAZING) which contained a ring. You can pick out of rings, earrings and necklaces depending on which you prefer. The candle I received costs £24.95 which is a similar price you would pay for a Yankee Candle. You get A LOT of candle for your money, so they are well worth the price. You also get the added chance of getting a ring worth £250 which, lets be honest, is amazing. I know that a few years ago they used to include a bit of paper to tell you how much your ring is worth. I think I read somewhere they had to stop doing that for whatever reason, but they suggest that you get it valued at a jewelers. Basically, these candles are fast becoming my fave, and if you don't believe me I'm giving ONE of you lucky lot the chance to find out yourselves!

Cinnamon Bun Candle worth £24.95

Yes, you read that right. A GIVEAWAY!! This will be a flash giveaway, only lasting 1 week so that I can post the candle in time for Christmas (as it's from their Christmas range). Enter the rafflecopter widget below to be in with a chance of winning! T&C's apply as normal.

GOOD LUCK!!

Travel Lodge | Review

What now feels like a very long time ago I was contacted by a man called Jaleel on behalf of Travel Lodge to offer me a room in exchange for a review on my blog. It could be anywhere in the country, I got complete pick of where I wanted to go. As there was no date that it had to be used by, I asked if I could go in October (I think I spoke to Jaleel in July!) as it was mine and my boyfriends 3rd anniversary so it would tie in well. Of course I picked to go to London, I wasn’t too fussed about location though as everyone knows how easy it is to travel in London. We ended up picking Covent Garden and it was booked for the 25th October.

A lot happened in the time between booking it and actually going. At one point I tried to change the date I had booked, as I didn’t think I was going to be able to go. For unfortunate reasons my boyfriend was unable to go with me (just putting this out there, YES we are very much so still together!) so I quickly enforced my mum to come with me instead. Don’t worry; she was more than happy to!

We decided that mum would drive to Redbridge (the closest and easiest tube station for us to get to) and we would get the tube in. As it was a Saturday, of course London was packed and when we got to Redbridge we couldn’t find anywhere to park. We quickly sat-naved the closest tube station and after about 40 minutes of driving round in circles we found a tube station and made out way to central London.

As my mum had stayed in the same hotel previously she (kind of) knew where she was going. I knew that check in to the rooms was at 2pm however we arrived at around 1.35pm so we thought that they would just let us check in only to be met with if we wanted to check in before 2 we would have to pay £10. I’m still not totally sure why, along with the fact we were literally 20 minutes early. Fair enough if we arrived at 12pm, I could understand but 20 minutes! Well we weren’t going to walk around with our bags or wait for that matter so reluctantly my mum paid the fee and we were given our room key.

Our room was just your average standard room which was perfect for us as we weren’t planning on spending much time in the room. We had a huuuuge bed that was so comfortable! From our window we were looking out at a block of run down flats, however flats surrounded the building so I reckon any room you got would have the same view! This didn’t bother us much though, as we weren’t going to be spending our time looking out the window. We dropped off our bags and went out to shop.

As London is so busy it’s really hard to actually shop (especially on a Saturday!). Saying that, I did get a few bits! But I would really hate it if London was my closest town to go shopping in, it’s too much! We had originally planned to go and see a show however my mum suggested we go to the Hippodrome casino which is in Leicester Square. We also arranged to meet with one of my mums best friends who moved to London a few years ago. The casino was amazing, I was pretty much speechless the whole night! I held off betting though, as I know I would have spent all my money. I put on a few bets and won about £100 which I was obviously very happy with and walked away. Then we made our way back to the hotel.

We got back to the hotel at about 11.50pm so we knew we weren’t too late to get food as we were both starving. My mum told me that last time she was there she got one of the pizzas, which was delicious so we decided we’d both get a pizza. They were £9 each which is very expensive considering they were ones that I know you can buy from Tesco for £4 and you just heat up in the oven! We went over to the bar which had 2 other couples there. We waited patiently for about 15 minutes without saying anything, then I turned to my mum and just said ‘were blatantly being ignored’.

I’m still not too sure why we were ignored but it looked like one of the couples had been at the bar all night and the man serving clearly only wanted to serve these people (even getting them an apple, peeling, cutting it up and covering it in sugar for them, just because they mentioned they fancied it!). The man came over to us after another 10 or so minutes and asked what we wanted. I said ‘can we have 2 pizzas please’ and when he asked what flavours I turned to my mum to ask what she wanted. When I turned back, he had gone. Not disappeared, just walked off to serve someone else. By this point I was getting very frustrated and quite angry at the situation. We stood there for another 15 or so minutes thinking that maybe he had put through our order and we had to wait for the food. When it was made clear to us our pizzas weren’t being cooked, we were just standing there like idiots, I made a comment quite loudly hoping that he would hear. One of the couples that were standing over the other side of the bar then said to him ‘there are two ladies standing there waiting to be served’. He looked at us, then turned back to him and said ‘oh yeah I know, they want pizzas but *mumbled his words*’ and carried on laughing and joking with this other couple.

Luckily at this moment another lady walked through the door and served us straight away or I would have seriously lost my temper. We had been standing there waiting for about 45 minutes, being blatantly ignored. By this time it was gone 12.30am and we just wanted to go to bed. We were hungry, annoyed and quite frankly didn’t want to then spend £20 on two pizzas. I said to the lady who served us ‘we have been waiting 40 minutes, can we have these delivered to our room to save us any more time?’ and she told me ‘not unless you pay’ which I DEFINITELY was NOT doing. So we had to wait 20 MORE MINUTES for our pizzas to be cooked. We went off to our room to eat our very long awaited pizzas but of course, not without disruption!!

The vending machine had ate my mums money so I had to go to the front desk and….. I wont even get into that. It was another 20 minutes before we even got to our room! We both ate less than half of our pizza and went to sleep. HOWEVER we did have a very nice sleep!!
We checked out the next morning without any problems and that was that.

It’s such a shame that we received such appalling service because I’ve stayed in Travel Lodges before without any hassle. I think the night and room we stayed in was worth about £160 and if I had paid that I would have been very disappointed. In fact, if I had paid I think I would have actually complained and asked for a refund. I cannot fault the beds and rooms for the price you pay, but the service needs a bit of work! And after looking at reviews online, I think a lot of people would agree. I found 4 out of the 5 members of staff I came in to contact with were unhelpful and just damn right rude. I would never expect to receive that kind of service anywhere! We did have a nice stay, it was easy and very central but just a shame about the service.

*This room was free of charge from Travel Lodge in exchange for a review, however all opinions are my own

365 days

1 whole year. 365 days, over 68,000 page views, 2000+ Twitter followers, 1330+ BlogLovin’ followers and a few blog designs later and I’m still here. I’m not going to claim I’m now some kind of blogging expert, I know a lot of bloggers have been blogging for years more than I have and it’s no secret a lot of other bloggers have many more followers than me. BUT I’m very proud of myself and the ‘journey’ I’ve been on. I have learnt about writing, photography (I know, I still have a long way to go!!), social media and design along with so much more.

I want to say thank you to every single one of you that follows me, reads my blog or even if you just favourite my tweets from time to time.. I have to thank each and every one of you. No words could express how I feel and how excited I am for the future.

Here’s to many more years!!
